Hibernation? NEVER!
So, you've been playing in the dirt, touring the hills, or dropping knees around hairpin track-like corners on your motorcycle since spring. Your countenance drops and the adrenaline cells threaten to duck their heads under the arrival of early morning chills that whisper the soon-to-be entrance of Jack Frost. The leaves are turning and you're considering stashing your boots and gloves, and tucking your beloved two wheels into the safety of the garage for winter hibernation. Okay, so if you live in the far reaches of the northern hemisphere, then you might have a legitimate need to send your bike into winter hybernation, as even the rugged world class, all terrain BMW R1200GS has yet to replace sled dogs, though I'm sure someone has tried it.
For the rest of you...resist temptation! Today's BMW bikes are engineered to withstand the elements in dirt or on the street, and for those of you new to the enduro side of motorcycling, today's touring bikes come with outlets for heated vests, gloves, and socks, heated hand grips, all terrain tires, and just about anything else needed to protect you from the weather, while still giving you total and complete freedom, and the thrill of the wind on your back with nowhere to go but to eat up miles of road from the cities to the back country. Motorcycle gear technology mirrors that of the gear worn by mountain climbers, skiers, and alpine outdoor enthusiasts of every kind. Today's motorcycle apparel is designed to take you from the mild temperatures of the valley, through rain and wind, to the sub freezing temperatures of the mountains, and back again. If that isn't enough motivation, ride for the green...the money in your pocket and the trees lining your favorite country road. Your motorcycle spits out less emissions and consumes far less fuel than your car, and certainly provides triple the opportunity to enjoy the outside air or a favorite back detour to work that would have your regular car begging for mercy. Throw on your thermals, and stash your bike cover in your waterproof luggage. Your gas bill goes down, your adrenaline stays out of hibernation, and your friends look on in envy as you always have a front row parking space and traffic is merely your playground.
Still worried about a little wind and rain? Here is a great resource for winter gear in all brands for every type of winter motorcyclist.

Shift Into Gear with First Gear
Look who's showing up at Open House on October 13th!
FirstGear will introduce their latest line of intuitive technical apparel, making A&S BMW Motorcycles one of the first motorcycle dealers to offer their products to the public. Come and listen to Mark Kincart, FirstGear's apparel specialist, give us the lowdown on riding gear, the latest technical advancements in motorcycle apparel, and how to choose a style and fit that is right for you. His workshop will be offered three times throughout the day, and just for attending, a TPG jacket or pants is yours for 25% off the retail price if purchased the same day. Many stores will not be getting these products on their shelves until next year!First Gear's TPG line is a complete multi-season solution on and off the bike for extreme outdoor adventure. That's right, one system manages multiple activities, all styles of riding, and is rugged enough to go anywhere for the long haul. Designed as a three layer system, the base gear pants and shirts are designed for warmth and moisture wicking protection. The men's and women's jackets include a wind and waterproof liner that can be worn independently of the jacket's outer shell off the bike. The high tech TPG outer shell offers abrasion resistant fabric, high visibility reflective panels, and FirstGear's exclusive venting system, designed to keep riders cool and comfortable, with or without the inner liner in place.
We all know what it's like to need storage for sensitive items such as a wallet or cell phone, and FirstGear TPG jackets have incorporated plenty of extra pockets just for stowing away your valuables. Of course, when you're pushing your bike to the limits around hairpin turns, you have added reassurance with the inclusion of Knox CE approved armor in the shoulders and elbows of the TPG jackets, and at the hips and knees of the Men's and Women's TPG Escape Pants.
Don't miss the chance to be the first to add the latest high tech gear to your riding and outdoor adventure wardrobe! See you at Open House!
