Pashnit.com's Tim Mayhew - Guest Speaker at A&S's Next GaragenPartei
October 18th 2007 - 6:30 to 8 p.m.

When asked to provide a GaragenPartei that spoke about motorcycle touring and packing for a tour, I immediately thought of Tim. Who better to talk from experience than a man who tours how most of us want to tour. Sure I could have brought in some folks who’ve traveled the world on their motorcycles (oh wait, I already did that) but I want to know how to pack for a week (Read: I don’t want to have to wash socks by hand).

Most California motorcycle riders know about Pashnit.com's founder, Tim Mayhew. It began as a chronicle of his personal rides along California’s best roads including his amazing photography. Tim’s ability to describe not only the scenery, but the curves, the traffic and the pavement itself makes you feel as though you had been riding with him. He has over 600 roads plotted out on his site, which include maps, lodging and points of interest. And now, you can sign up for a guided tour with Tim. Ahhh - it can't get better than that!

Tim will be at A&S, Thursday, October 18th to discuss packing and touring on your motorcycle. Who better to learn from than a man who's truly "Passionate" about touring! Check back here on Friday the 19th, for the ASTV version of Tim's presentation!!

HP2 Sport Buzz
There's been some whisperings of a New addition to the BMW's HP2 Series the "HP2 Sport". Based off the R1200S, this is a more advanced and sportier version. Rumored to be released in 2008, I'll be keeping my eyes open for you all!

I did find some photos and information on a Website from New Zealand, so I can't verify the validity for the U.S. Market, but it's still and exciting read!

Here are a few excerpts:

"The dream of many Boxer fans has come true: With the new BMW HP2 Sport, BMW Motorrad is putting the sportiest, most powerful and lightest Boxer series of all times on the road. The third model of the HP model range was designed for the ambitious sports rider and enthrals with numerous exclusive details that were previously restricted to racing, some making their first appearance in series vehicle production.

Examples of these include the self-supporting and aerodynamically optimised
fairings made completely of CFK, the gear shift assistant, a dashboard like that used in the MotoGP, the forged aluminium wheels and the racing brakes with radially bolted calipers. Wherever the eye of the spectator wanders, it sees pure racing technology that delights every enthusiast. It is unmistakably athletic, a vehicle that inspires on country roads as well as on the racing circuit. "
